Our Programmes
Throughout the year, ACET offers a range of activities geared at satisfying community needs and fostering connections with others who share our living spaces.
Equip job seekers with required skills and knowledge to compete in the NZ job market and gain valuable working experience through internship, and support employers to find potential full time employees who are well prepared and can fit well into their company.
Provide young people with practical and customised trainings to improve their wellbeing through developing personal interests and skills, understanding their background, strengthening their own identity, building a sense of belonging in NZ and connecting to the community. Support young people to achieve The Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award.
Cultivate environmental awareness in the community through learning how to appreciate, protect and minimise damage to our environment, and guide people how to maintain a mentally and physically healthy life.
Rip Rugby
As the national sport of New Zealand, rugby is deeply engraved in the culture and is often the staple for the community, regardless of any external factors just about any local has taken part in rugby in some way through their life either as a player, referee, coach or sideline helps. It is truly one of the best ways to be immersed and learn about authentic New Zealand culture.
The Asian community, especially the Chinese community has historically not been able to take advantage of this valuable opportunity and is almost reluctant to try the sport due to assumptions such as strong physical contact and a high ratio of non-Asian players. Therefore, it is key to attempt to overcome these barriers to ensure that Asian people are equally presented within the sport.
This program mainly focuses on providing a more exclusive environment for Asian people who have little prior knowledge of the sport to have a go under the supervision of specialized coaches, with simplified rules and a non-contact version of the sport to teach the fundamentals and the spirit of the sport, increasing their fitness and confidence in this field.

Women’s Boxing Workout
Welcome to our women's boxing workout for beginners to get fit and in shape through non-combat training! Our coach will provide well-structured fitness-focused boxing training and self-defensive courses with an element of technique added so you can improve week on week in a safe and comfortable environment.

Happy Kid Active Mum Club
The kids and mum well-being program is a long-term program that is aiming to improve kids' and mum’s mental and physical health. The course will stimulate children’s creativity and curiosity while giving mum a chance to exercise/have a rest at the same time. We will have the kid's course and mum’s fitness course at the same location which will help mum save traffic time. The program provides women from Asian migrant communities an opportunity to enjoy exercise time without taking care of kids and get a professional fitness class with a budget. It also encourages mum to communicate and share their thoughts with others.
Our playgroup is staffed by trained caregivers, who graduated from the Communication University of China, and will deliver a drama enlightenment class to your little ones to unleash their talents in self-exploration.

RISE Holiday Programme
A holiday programme that is run by the community, Northcote Baptist Church, in association with ACET, for primary school-aged children. We aim to provide a diverse mix of entertainment, education, and enjoyment within a safe, fun, learning environment.

including, crafts, drama, drawing, dancing, robotics, science, basketball, hockey, badminton, and Bible story, etc. Half Days, Full (9am~3pm), or Extended Days (9am~5pm) options are available. Register for all Week 1 and/or 2 sessions or choose individual sessions.

It is the most widely-used system of writing Mandarin Chinese that uses the Latin alphabet. Most importantly, it's a great tool to help children learn the accurate pronunciation of Mandarin words and input Chinese characters on a computer or smartphone. Pinyin classes will be in all mornings.

First Aid Course Level 1
Our First Aid Course Level 1 is delivered by St. John and you will achieve a First Aid Level 1 certificate valid for 2 years upon successful completion. It is ideal for first aiders in workplaces and anyone wanting to learn the basics of first aid. The course will provide you the confidence to recognize and treat everything from common injuries to life-threatening medical emergencies and also the skills to offer vital assistance and CPR before more experienced help arrives. It is a perfect starting point for advancing your first aid training to the next level and can give an advance to health and safety for you, your family, and your community.

Occupational English Class for Beginners
The occupational English class is an eight-week programme that offers our members an opportunity to study frequently used language in a working environment. Certain requirements are necessary for applying to the programme.
Requirements:
- 16years old or older
- NZ RV/PR/Citizen
- Did not accept education on level 3 or above
Study Contents
- To learn how to communicate in a team environment effectively.
- To learn how to express your personal strengths and achievements/ working goals.
- Training on occupational skills and leadership skills
- Assistant on CV and career finding

Step to Success
This is a project of Kapatiki Community Facilities Trust. We will offer our members services to facilitate their participation in the project.

As a result of participating the programme, our volunteers are expected to:

Christmas Flower Arrangement Workshop
It is nearly Christmas and we are proudly launching our Christmas flower arrangement workshops at Ponsonby. For these workshops, NEDF invited professional floral artists from Victoria Flower School, to teach our participants the fundamental skills of flower arranging, instructions on the tools, matching colour palettes and how to take care of fresh flowers. Materials are provided in each class.

Botanical Monoprint Workshop
A new creative course using Monoprinting as the medium to expand public creative and ecological awareness through the tactile exploration of native plants. This approach helps participants from the local community, including young people, get to explore the natural environment, and learn about local ecology by making botanical mono-prints for their homes.

Playback Theatre
Playback Theatre (PB) is a type of improvised theatre that was started in the United States in 1975 by Jonathan Fox and Jo Salas. It is a type of improvised theatre that focuses on how the audience and the actors work together. This theatre is based on the idea that everyone has a story to tell and deserves to have it heard and put on stage.

Child First Aid Workshop
The child first aid class is a collaborative programme with Hato Hone St John. The course is a one-off programme that is open to everyone who is interested in the public. This half-day course is ideal for people who are looking after children in their own home or for those needing to renew their Child First Aid certificate.
Workshop contents:
Recommended for parents, grandparents and other family caregivers
Recognised qualification for home-based educators and nannies
4.5 hour course, offered as a 2 day, split course in some locations
Eligible for NZQA unit standard 25459
Mask wearing, social distancing and contact tracing may be required depending on alert levels at the time of course.
